Itinerary

Description & Itinerary

Pay only for what you enjoy!

Our guided tours aim to be a unique and personal experience, supported on our expertise: we suggest an itinerary, one or two restaurants to lunch, and the most iconic monuments and attractions to visit. But, we want you to feel free to choose your favourite restaurant, your preferred monuments or attractions! We will adapt the itinerary, whenever possible, to meet your wishes.

That is why our price does not include lunch, or the tickets to visit monuments and attractions.

  • Trebilhadouro Village (Freita): As time is short, the first section of our tour will be trough the highway, heading to Trebilhadouro. Those who arrive here feel that they are returning to the typical spirit of ancestral way of life. The silence, the green landscape and the mountain – a relaxing environment.
  • Viewpoint of Frecha da Mizarela: The highest and most beautiful waterfall of Portugal: here, the Caima river flows over than 60 meters high, in an impressive show worth to be contemplated.
  • Pedras Parideiras – Interpretative center: a geological treasure, popularly known as “calving stones”. If you want to know the dynamics of the Arouca Geopark and the origin of these singular rocks, you should visit the Interpretative Center. Located in Castanheira, this village also worth a visit through its alleys full of history.
  • Paiva Walkways (Passadiços do Paiva): A course of 8 km of nature in its pure state begins here. A journey through biology, geology, and the history of life on the planet, written in the landscape. Paiva River flows in a musical way beside us, inviting for a swim on the bathing areas of Areinho, Espiunca, or the Vau , a beach and leisure area half way. It will be an experience of a lifetime.
  • Arouca 516: close to Vau is located the largest suspended pedestrian bridge in the world. For those immune to vertigo it’s a “must do” adventurous crossing, 150 mt above the Paiva river.
  • North bank of Douro: On our way back to Porto we will get the road along the north bank of Douro river till Casa Branca do Gramido. Imposing, on the Valbom waterfront, this is the building where it was signed, in 1847, the Gramido Convention, a document that ended wars between liberals and absolutists and the popular uprisings that became known as Maria da Fonte and Patuleia. That was the event that put the White House of Gramido in our country’s history.
  • Return to Porto.

Notes: This attractions list is not mandatory nor exhaustive and it may be adjusted to your expectations. Besides, the itinerary may differ due to weather conditions, the time spent in each location and the guide’s criterion.

Difficulty level and accessibility: Hard/Adventure. A "soft ride" is also available!

This tour is classified as Hard/Adventure. It presupposes a healthy physical condition to get to the walkways, about 3 hours through steep wooden ways and stairs. Be sure to wear proper garments and shoes.

Easy/ For all version: you may choose a “soft ride”, doing it as a panoramic tour and skipping the 8 km walkway. Yet, it may comprise some short walking routes, accessible for those with limited mobility. This “soft ride” is possible with collapsible wheelchairs, however the passenger may need someone’s assistance.
