“It is not a panorama the eyes gaze upon: it is an excess of nature”, said the poet.
The Douro Valley, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 2001, is a majestic wilderness, one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world, but a surprisingly silent place, apart from three bustling weeks of harvest each autumn.
This Douro Valley Private Tour is a journey through a delightful valley, up to these beautiful terraced vineyards where the port wine grapes are grown. If the label on a port bottle seems something of a puzzle, (what, exactly, is LBV? Tawny? Single Quinta?), come to a guided visit to a winery and experience a delicate wine tasting.
For those who enjoy nature and tradition, this a memorable trip with stunning scenery, breath-taking landscapes and traditional heritage.

This tour is every bit worth the investment! Rui is a very gentle and attentive driver. Picked-us from our hotel in Porto and drove us 4 into the Douro Valley. Gave us great information on Portuguese history and wine and Port on the journey and throughout the day. We visit two quintas, for wine tasting. Very nice lunch, stunning landscapes. Memorable day!
